Ken Agyapong’s NPP Ultimatum: Truth-Telling or Political Sore Loser?

I take up my pen to brief you on the latest circus in Ghanaian politics: the spectacular internal feud within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over their resident political volcano, Kennedy Agyapong.
Just this week, the NPP’s National Executive Committee officially referred multiple petitions against Ken to their Disciplinary Committee, slapping him with a strict two-week probe. The offense? Severe "anti-party behavior." True to form, Ken went on the airwaves and alleged a systematic 10% kickback scheme on government contracts under previous NPP administrations, slamming leadership for the toxic internal machinery that cost them the 2024 election. Operating on the philosophy that he who is down fears no fall, Ken clearly feels he has absolutely nothing left to lose.
As Ken began to spill somewhat of the beans live on air, an anxious observer in the audience frantically winked at him, desperately signaling for him to shut his mouth. But Ken looked right back and sharply reminded them that he absolutely had to tell the truth, regardless of the fallout. He capped it off by threatening to fully "spill the beans" if party executives pushed him, forcing the party hierarchy to aggressively remind him that absolutely no individual is bigger than the elephant.
He uses his wealth as leverage, telling the party that if he cannot lead the house, he will joyfully burn it down with everyone inside.I remember briefing you in the past that it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for Ken to ever win the primaries. This latest tantrum proves exactly why.
Besides, Ken remains one of those and humans, who simply cannot do a good deed in silence. No matter what he does to help you, he will make absolutely sure to broadcast it to the entire world and rub it in your face long before you eventually return to asamando.
Meanwhile, the average Ghanaian is completely exhausted by this theatrical suspense. The suffering citizen wants to know what is going to happen next week when the prices of fuel and transport hit their pockets again. Ken’s grand promises of a massive exposé scheduled for "July next year" won't do anyone "foko". A delayed blockbuster does absolutely nothing to fix a broken economy today.
The irony of the whole spectacle is delicious. In his media blitz, Ken actually accused a leading members of the NDC of approaching his own wife to peddle a 500-million-cedi contract. Osagyefo; a regular citizen gets instantly picked up by National Security or the BNI just for creating a poster that says "Dumsor is back," yet a billionaire can openly confess to knowing about massive public procurement corruption and walk away scot-free. Anaa is the NDC also quietly terrified of him and his archives? It seems nobody wants to touch this live wire.
Whether the Elephant has the stomach to tame its most unruly rider or if they will succumb to his ultimatum remains to be seen. I shall keep my eyes on the arena.
